Third Grade

Third grade is an important, exciting year.  We learn the multiplication facts and we learn to write in cursive.  We make the transition from learning to read to learning from reading. Accelerated Reader is a big part of 3rd grade.  In science we study life structures and water.  In social studies, we study communities.

Major Skill Areas

  • Reading independently for information
  • Writing in cursive
  • Memorizing multiplication facts
For more information, see the California Content Standards for Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science.

Homework Policy

Expect 60 minutes of homework Monday through Thursday including independent reading and memorizing multiplication facts.

Field Trips

We take field trips into the community that bring our learning to life.

Special Programs

  • Project H.E.L.P.  is a program that provides approximately 200 additional hours of instruction for students who qualify.
