Bishop School Grounds Bishop is the oldest school in the district and the only school in the district that has an auditorium in addition to its cafeteria. The auditorium is used not only by this school, but also by many community groups. This distinction adds to the pride of the staff and is shared by the students and parents. As a result, there is very little vandalism, and students help to keep the school clean and to maintain its natural beauty, including the well-established landscaping. Bishop is a closed campus. Any visitors on campus must first sign in at the office and obtain a visitor's pass. All staff are to wear identification badges. Parents should wait on the sidewalks, outside of the school gates to pick up or drop off their students. Like many schools, the City of Sunnyvale in conjunction with the school district, maintain and utilize the school field areas. The gates are to remain open after school hours to provide community access. As with many schools, parking increasingly becomes an unavoidable problem due to the amount of families that live in the area. Parents, visitors, and staff must show patience, courtesy, and caution while driving in and around the school. Please remember to use the utmost care while dropping off and picking up your children. Please do not allow them to cross traffic unassisted at a time when traffic is at its busiest, and always have them use the crosswalks. Please be alert and watch for children and pedestrians. Bishop students are proud of their art hallway which leads from the school office to the main hallway of the school. Classes are scheduled monthly to display their works of art in the gallery, including artwork, poetry, writing, and seasonal displays. Student works are also displayed in individual classrooms, office, cafeteria and library and promotes the self-esteem of the students. Bishop School has many, wonderful murals throughout the school. The mural projects have involved individual artists and some have involved student artists. The murals provide an added uniqueness for Bishop, which promotes school pride. Larry' Lane.
