The Music and Arts Program at Cherry Chase

Cherry Chase is very fortunate to enjoy a full music and arts program, thanks to the generosity of its parents during our fundraising events and to the PTA for funding these excellent programs. Cherry Chase's Music and Arts Committee, comprising teachers and parents, oversee the following programs:

FAME

FAME (Fine Arts Mini Experience) is a five year program at Cherry Chase, covering every class in each grade, so the student entering Kindergarten will repeat the first class in his fifth year Each year comprises 6 lessons, which volunteer docents teach each month from October through April, excluding December. Each lesson consists of one musician and one artist and their work, with a follow-up art lesson related to the style of the artist for that month. Students keep all their FAME art work in a special folder which they bring home at the end of the school year. For further details about this year's FAME artists and composers, click here.

In-Class Performing Arts

Through the help of Cherry Chase PTA and the fund-raising efforts of our children, Cherry Chase is proud to announce the continuation of our in-class arts and music program this year. (More information to be added soon.

Additionally, www.menc.org/information/advocate/facts.html lists important facts on how music helps our children excel in academics, society and in life.
