Principal's Message

Welcome to San Miguel School! All of us at San Miguel School want to make this a successful year for your child. Your active support and cooperation, combined with our best professional efforts, will ensure academic success for your child.

We are proud of our staff and students and invite you to be involved in San Miguel School. Please visit our classrooms, school office, library, cafeteria, and playground. There is a spirit of cooperation and progress at our school that enabled us recently to achieve recognition as a California Distinguished School. We want to share this spirit with you!

The goal of our school is to provide each student with a challenging and rigorous curriculum appropriate to his/her academic level. We believe every child can achieve academic success. To this end, every child will be provided with quality instructional experiences which recognize, support and maintain high expectations.

With parents and teachers working together as a team, every child will succeed. In order to give each child the best opportunity for success, we keep children first in all that we do. If we accept and make real the pledge to keep children first, then it follows that education is our #1 priority. A school-community with those two concepts as a core value and our common cause will stand ready, willing and able to do what is needed for educating children. I know our San Miguel School community is such a place.

At San Miguel School, we take the business of loving and teaching children seriously. Each person at our school approaches his/her task with a keen understanding that it is an honor to be able to touch the future through children. Work of this importance cannot be done alone for several reasons. First, we are dealing with very fragile material-a child's mind. Second, when we work together we get more done than if each person worked alone. None of our efforts are as good as all our efforts together.

As your principal, I ask for your support, ideas, suggestions and involvement. I encourage you to join our team, our school family. I pledge to do my best to ensure that each child is challenged, nurtured, and provided with a safe and stimulating learning experience.

On most days I will be on the playground, on the sidewalk, and out visiting classrooms. I intend to be visible and accessible. If you ever need to speak with me about anything, please don't hesitate at all. I will make time to respond to your needs. I see close communications as an opportunity to better serve our students. When we work together we improve the system for the children. Through teamwork, open communication, and a dedication to ongoing improvement, we can continue to make San Miguel a school children delight in and enjoy being part of.
