The Sunnyvale School District State Preschool Program is licensed by the Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing and serves children who will qualify for kindergarten the following school year. Equal treatment and access to services is provided without regard to race, creed, religion, national origin, ethnic background, sex or physical handicap. This program operates without religious instruction or any corporal punishment. The State Preschool Program is designed to provide readiness experiences for students.

Eligibility is determined by criteria developed by the State. Priority will be given to children: 1. Ages three to four referred by Child Protective Services. 2. Age four who meet the lowest income standard as set by the State. Children must be four years old on or before October 1st.

Applications for State Preschool are made through the Centralized Eligibility List (CEL). To enroll a child, please be prepared to bring:

Any fees for the California State Preschool Program are determined at the time of certification.

No child may attend the program before such an appointment is made, an entrance interview has been held and registration process has been completed.

State Preschool hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 8:30-11:30 or 12:00-3:00 (5 days/week; 3 hrs/day).
