At
the end of 7th grade students can apply to become leaders as 8thgraders in
the Welcome EveryBody (WEB) program. Only students
of upstanding character who are recommended by their teachers are accepted.
One of their chief responsibilities is to be a good role model to the new 6th grade students. As such, they coordinate a summer orientation for incoming 6th graders. Additionally, throughout the school year they are expected to be involved in community service activities. Outstanding WEB leaders are recognized in the 8th grade graduation ceremony and get to wear a special rope indicating that honor.
During their school year, WEB students can be part of a year-long, elective leadership course. As part of this course they design and set-up campus rallies and perform various campus service projects. They also teach mini-lessons to 6th grade students.
Susan Lueck and Gigi Swan are the teachers that coordinate the WEB program.
