Ms. Carlson grew up in Santa Rosa, California. She graduated from UC Davis with a BS in human development, and got a teaching credential through San Jose State University. She is the oldest of three children.

She enjoys reading, snowboarding, water skiing, wake boarding, camping, growing flowers, book clubs, coaching soccer, volunteering for Special Olympics, spending time with friends, and taking care of two baby Red Eared Slider turtles: Busten & Tiny.
