School Mission and Goals:
Our school theme is that Lakewood School is a “Gr…..eat Place to Learn”. Everywhere you turn, students are learning and teachers are teaching to California State Standards for all children! Lakewood School provides numerous extended-day and enrichment programs for all students. Our teachers provide before school and after school tutorial programs for at risk students, as well as an enriched curriculum during the school day. Lakewood School provides KLAS; Kids Learning After School which is a collaborative partnership between the Sunnyvale School District, the City of Sunnyvale, YMCA and the Columbia Neighborhood Center. Lakewood School also provides a Project HELP (High Expectations Learning Program) program which is a summer school and acdemic program for students, and includes a parent education component.

Community Involvement & Support
Lakewood enjoys excellent community support from parents, businesses and local foundations.
The School Site Council (SSC) meets monthly to approve, monitor and evaluate the School Improvement Plan, the budget, and to guide school activities throughout the year.
The English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) advises the principal and staff of the development of the school plan for English Language Learners submitted to the District Board.
The Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and individual parent volunteers help in many ways. With parents and teachers working together, the PTO is able to raise funds and plan activities to benefit Lakewood students.
The Sunnyvale Public Safety Department actively supports Lakewood School by providing student assemblies to promote safety education and positive personal conduct.
Lakewood has several business partnerships with Yahoo, Advanced Micro Devices, Coca Cola and Seagate. These business connections offer Lakewood the opportunity to provide classroom computers, tutoring and special field trips.
