Attendance Rules and Regulations

Attendance

 

• It is the expectation that every child will attend school everyday unless they are excused for illness or the death of a family member. They are expected to be on time so that they are not an interruption to the teacher and other students at the beginning of the day.
• Every absence requires a phone call to the school absence line on the morning of the absence. (408-522-8270)
• The 3^rd day of an absence will require a doctor’s note to return to school.
• Every absence must be cleared before a child may return to school.
• Vacations are not excused absences.
• Parents/Guardians of students with excessive absences or tardiness  will receive:

                        1)         After school detention

                        2)         A written notice

                        3)         A meeting with the Principal

                        4)         Attendance Contract

                        5)         SARB – Student Attendance Review Board for truancy.

 

Leaving School Early

 

• Students will not be excused from class the last 15 minutes of the day.
• We will not interrupt a teachers lunch time to open a classroom to get a student’s items so they may leave during lunch or recess. Please plan ahead.
• Any student leaving for a doctor or dentist appointment must return the following day with a note from the doctor.
• The only person who may excuse a child from school early is the parent/guardian or a person on the emergency card with proper Identification.

 

Phone Numbers / Addresses

 

• Every child is expected to know their name, phone number and address.  This is for their safety.
• All addresses and phone numbers must be kept current.  Please inform the school of any changes.  This includes changes for emergency contacts as well.
• Changes of address must be supported by documentation using current rules regarding residency.

 

Arriving at School Early / Picked up more than 15 Minutes Late

 

• Students arriving prior to 7:45 - will make a phone call to a parent to come back and pick them up.
• It is the responsibility of the parents/guardians to call the school in advance if they will be picking up a student late.
• If a student is unable to make contact with an adult, Public Safety will be called.
• School Staff members are not to be used as babysitters or daycare.
