NETS Standard 1:  Apply strategies for identifying and solving routine hardware and software problems that occur during everyday use.
 
    Possible Integration Strategies:
 
Reading comprehension  where the student develops interpretive comprehension by using critical/evaluative-thinking skills.  Computer Operation where students are using a checklist to eliminate routine problems.  (i.e. checking power sources, cable connections, software is correctly input…)
 
NETS Standard 2:  Demonstrate knowledge of current changes in information technologies and the effect those changes have on the workplace and society.
 
Possible Integration Strategies:
a. Social Studies:  From Early Humankind and the Development of Human Societies.  Knows the major events that shaped the development of various cultures (e.g. the spread of agrarian societies, population movements, technological and cultural innovation, and the emergence of new populations centers.
b.  Language Arts:  Use reference materials to locate information.

NETS Standard 9.  Demonstrate an understanding of concepts underlying hardware, software, and connectivity, and of practical applications to learning and problem solving.

    Possible Integration Strategies:

 

a.  All curricular as appropriate:  Analyze problems by identifying relationships, distinguishing relevant from irrelevant information, sequencing and prioritizing information and observing patterns.
 
b.  Computer Literacy:  Introduce a map of a networked computer system from the World Wide Web to the personal computer.
 
c.  Science/Math:  Knows that computers speed up and extend people’s ability to collect, sort, analyze data; prepare research reports; and share data ideas with others.

 

NETS Standard 10.  Research and evaluate the accuracy, relevance, appropriateness, comprehensiveness, and bias of electronic information sources concerning real-world problems.
 
    Possible Integration Strategies:
 
a.  Language Arts: Areas to research using Internet Resources as well as software includes comprehension where the user differentiates between reality and fantasy. Students are introduced to different web sites under the instructor’s supervision.  A discussion of dot.net, dot.org. dot.edu, dot.gov should be touched upon.

 

b.  All curricular as appropriate: Health, where the student may explore how health issues are portrayed in print and visual media. Knows how messages from media and other sources influence health behavior.
