NETS Standard 1:  Apply strategies for identifying and solving routine hardware and software problems that occur during everyday us

    Possible Integration Strategies:
 
Reading Comprehension:  The student will plan and conduct multiple-step information searches by using computer networks and modems.
 
Writing Strategy:  The student will identify the sequence of activities needed to design a system, operate a tool, or explain the bylaws of an organization.

NETS Standard 2: Demonstrates knowledge of current changes in information technologies and the effect those changes have on the workplace and society.

    Possible Integration Strategies:
 
This ties in with History/Social Science standard where students analyze the transformation of the American economy and the changing social and political conditions in the United States in response to the Indus-trial Revolution.
 
Students may create an essay, PowerPoint presentation, poster, or video illustrating the changes over time.

NETS Standard 3:  Exhibit legal and ethical behaviors when using information and technology, and discuss consequences of misuse.

    Possible Integration Strategies:

This correlates to the Listening and Speaking standard where the student is responsible for delivering research presentations.  One source to obtain information may be:

NETS Standard 4:  Use content-specific tools, software, and simulations (e.g., environmental probes, graphing calculators, exploratory environments, Web tools) to support learning and research.

NETS Standard 6:  Design, develop, publish, and present products (e.g., Web pages, videotapes) using technology resources that demonstrate and communicate curriculum concepts to audiences inside and outside the classroom.

a.  Language Arts:  Using word processors to record ideas students will revise and edit writing samples. The student may use processing skills to complete problem-solving experiments. Students may use assorted web resources to demonstrate classroom concepts.

a.  History/Social Science:  The student knows that people have invented and used tools throughout history to solve problems and improve ways of doing things. Knows that technology can be used to solve problems.  This illustrates the concept that successive inventions show a need to continually improve life.
 
b.  Math/Science: The student knows that computers speed up and extend people’s ability to collect, sort, analyze data; prepare research reports; and share data ideas with others. Students select and use appropriate instruments, technology, and techniques to measure quantities in order to achieve specified degrees of accuracy in a problem situation.

NETS Standard 10:  Research and evaluate the accuracy, relevance, appropriateness, comprehensiveness, and bias of electronic information sources concerning real-world problems.
