Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! I hope that all of your children have had a good summer vacation, whether they were traveling with family, attending camps, or enjoying some down time at home.
This summer, my family traveled to Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. It was an amazing trip filled with wonderful adventures! When we returned home, we enjoyed visits to the fair, hiking in the mountains, and spending time with family.
As the new school year approaches, we have begun receiving many calls with questions about various beginning of the year details. Here is some information to answer our most frequently asked questions:
- School supply lists have been posted to the school website and on UptoUs.
- Class lists will be posted at the school site at 3:00 on August 10, 2018. In response to parent requests, we will also be emailing the class lists on the same day.
- School starts on August 15 at 8:00 a.m. The first morning of school is usually very busy, and there will be heavy traffic. We encourage all families to arrive by 7:45 to ensure enough time for parking and walking to the classroom.
- Kindergarten students will be dismissed at 11:20. First through fifth grade students will be dismissed at 2:15.
Please review the school calendar to learn more about events that will be taking place during the start of the school year! Some events you will not want to miss include the first Coffee with the Principal on August 15, Explorer 101 Training the week of August 27, Back to School Night on August 30, and the first Explorer Community Meeting on September 12. All of these events can help you learn a bit more about Fairwood Explorer, your role in supporting the mission of our school, and the opportunities you will have to participate. The Fairwood Explorer Staff is looking forward to an amazing school year with all of our Fairwood Families! We look forward to seeing you soon!
