Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Do adults eat for free?

No, adults would have to pay $3.50 for breakfast and $4.50 for lunch. Additionally, since we are a cashless system, you would have to email Brenda Gurrola at brenda.gurrola@sesd.org to create an account where you are able to deposit funds.

Are students allowed to eat seconds?

No, nutritional requirements by the USDA do not allow for second meals.

What is the purpose of the income form?

When families complete the income form, they are providing additional funding to support education, funding for technology and internet access, before and after school academic & enrichment programs, and resources for classrooms, teachers & children. It also provides funding for healthy & nutritional meals. Students who qualify within an income range may also qualify for free/reduced transportation fees, free physical education clothes, and possible low/no-cost access to community activities (i.e. sports, clubs).

Do I still need to fill out a free & reduced meal application?

The application process has been replaced with an "income form". We encourage families to fill out the Income Form before September 2, every school year.

Are meals free for all students?

Yes, breakfast and lunch for the 2025-26 school year are free. While meals are provided at no cost, we require students to obtain a meal card.
