Affidavit of Residency

Who needs to complete an Affidavit of Residency?

An Affidavit of Residency must be completed by a parent or legal guardian who cannot provide standard, verified proof of address (like a lease/mortgage statement or utility bill) in their own name within the school district boundaries.

Common situations include:

  • Renting a room from another family
  • Co-living with relatives
  • Staying in a home where the lease or property deed is held entirely by someone else

Guidelines and Policies

  • A student's primary residence is strictly defined as the location where they live 7 days a week, or more than 50% of the time in shared custody situations.
  • Childcare provider, Business locations, and P.O. Boxes are not accepted as a primary address.
  • If an address on file is determined to be incorrect, families are given two (2) weeks to submit current documentation or arrange for an official school transfer, ensuring your child's daily school routine continues without disruption.
