K-5 Literacy Curriculum Pilot: 2025-2026

Our district is committed to providing high-quality, research-based literacy instruction. This year, we are piloting new materials for English Language Arts (ELA), English Language Development (ELD), and Spanish Language Arts (SLA) to ensure every student has access to high quality instructional materials aligned with the Science of Reading and research-based practices.

Pilot Committee forms based on teacher interest. 

 

Committee reviews English Language Arts, English Language Development, and Spanish Language Arts curricula materials.

 

Committee selects three curricula to pilot in classrooms.

Phase 2: Piloting

December 2025 - May 2026

Implementation and evaluation of curriculum materials in pilot classrooms.

 

Curriculum overview sessions for all staff and family.

 

Gather feedback from staff, families, and students. 

Phase 3: Curriculum Recommendation

May/June 2026

Pilot team makes final recommendation to the School Board.

 

Family Information Sessions

We are hosting several information sessions for families throughout the pilot process. These sessions provide an overview of the curricula being piloted, instructions on how to review materials, and guidance on how to provide feedback.

Curriculum Pilot Parent Preview Session:

Once the pilot team has their final curriculum recommendation(s), a family preview window of the recommended curriculum will be open before the Board of Trustees considers adoption. We will start the family preview window with a family information session.

Reviewing Curriculum Materials

Families are invited to review curriculum materials. Both digital and print materials are available for review. Curriculum materials will become available for preview after each family curriculum overview session with the publisher.

Viewing Print Materials: 

  • Visit the District Office Instructional Materials Center (IMC)
    • K-5 materials available for hands-on review Monday–Friday, 8:00–5:00.
    • Check in at the front desk.
    • Fill out sign-in sheet upon reviewing materials.

Viewing Digital Materials:

  • Complete the Curriculum Family Preview Request Form

Share Your Feedback

Your feedback is an important part of the pilot process. Feedback shared by families will be reviewed by the pilot and taken into consideration when making their final recommendation to the Board of Trustees.

What to Look For: 

As you explore the materials, consider how they support your child’s needs and how they align with the Science of Reading (the proven ways children learn to read).

How to Share Your Thoughts: 

All feedback will be collected through a Google Form.
