Special Education Resources

SELPA (Special Education Local Plan Area)

The Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) coordinates with school districts and the County Office of Education to provide a continuum of programs and services for individuals with disabilities, from birth through 22 years of age. We are also available as a resource to the community on issues related to special education. The documents/local plans for each SELPA (SELPAs I, II, III, IV, & VII) can be viewed here.

IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act)

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a law that makes available free appropriate public education to eligible children with disabilities throughout the nation and ensures special education and related services to those children.
