SELPA (Special Education Local Plan Area)

The Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) coordinates with school districts and the County Office of Education to provide a continuum of programs and services for individuals with disabilities, from birth through 22 years of age. We are also available as a resource to the community on issues related to special education. The documents/local plans for each SELPA (SELPAs I, II, III, IV, & VII) can be viewed here.

 

IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act)

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a law that makes available free appropriate public education to eligible children with disabilities throughout the nation and ensures special education and related services to those children.

 

CHAC (Community Health Awareness Council)

CHAC has provided high-quality, affordable mental health care to our local communities.

 

NCLD (National Center for Learning Disabilities)

NCLD works to create a society in which every individual possesses the academic, social, and emotional skills needed to succeed in school, at work, and in life.

 

CDE (California Department of Education)

Information and resources to serve the unique needs of persons with disabilities so that each person will meet or exceed high standards of achievement in academic and nonacademic skills.

 

SCCOE (Santa Clara County of Education)

The SCCOE's Special Education Department partners with the county's schools to serve students with disabilities.
