Welcome to the Special Education and Student Services Department

Welcome back Sunnyvale Students and Family!

We are ready to welcome you to the 2021-22 school year and see your faces. Our goal is to provide support and encouragement for each of you to reach your full potential.  We look forward to building relationships with you to ensure students can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, students need support from both the home and school. We know a strong positive relationship with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for students’ success and want you to know that we will do our very best. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that your child(ren):

    •         Attend school each day.
    •         Spend time learning about compassion and acceptance of others.
    •         Talk with their teacher or preferred adult when they need assistance.
    •         Spend time each day reading and discussing what they are learning with you.

I am confident that if we begin taking these steps we are on a path to make positive changes for our students. We will only accomplish our goals for students by working together—the School District, schools, families, and community. Our first step in that direction is by prioritizing the building and nurturing relationships of mutual support and high expectations with students, families, and staff.

I look forward to our equity journey this year and am eager to use our equity lens and include everyone in the conversation.
