We support the physical, social, emotional, mental health, safety, and well-being of all students in the district, and facilitate learning and delivery of quality instruction to students.
Each member of the team plays an important role in delivering quality instruction to students. The professional team helps to meet the special education needs of students. Each year, students benefit from the intensive instructional programs and services provided at a variety of sites. Parents are provided information and resources to support their child's needs.
The special education department provides special education support to 700 hundred students with disabilities, and approximately 100 preschool students with special needs.
We have created this site for parents, teachers, and students. It will provide you with a basic understanding of the special education process and special services within the District.
We look forward to joining you as a partner in supporting our students in realizing their personal and academic goals. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call your child's school, case manager and/or the Special Education & Student Services Office.
So please take a few moments to review the site. In it, you will find key information to help you navigate through the special education programs and procedures. In addition, as always, I welcome your feedback to help keep this site accurate and user-friendly. If you have particular items that you would like to see added to our site, please call our Special Education Department at (408) 522-8200.
Tasha L. Dean, Ed.D.
