Dear Sunnyvale School District Families, 

We understand that recent federal immigration enforcement efforts may be causing concern for our families and students. We want to reassure you that Sunnyvale School District remains a safe and welcoming place for all students, regardless of immigration status. 

Our district does not collect, record, or share any information regarding the immigration status of students or their families. Schools will continue to be safe spaces where every child has the right to learn and thrive without fear. 

Our practices are based on our core values and are reinforced by long-standing laws:

• Federal law states that all children in the United States, regardless of immigration or citizenship status, have the right to a free and appropriate public education.
• California law affirms that every student in the state has the right to attend public school free from discrimination, harassment, violence, intimidation, and bullying.

Providing an inclusive and nurturing environment in which students feel safe and know they belong is one of our key goals for student success. If you have any concerns or need assistance, please reach out to your school or district staff.

Queridas familias del Distrito Escolar de Sunnyvale,

Sabemos que las recientes acciones del gobierno federal sobre inmigración pueden causar preocupación para nuestras familias y alumnos. Queremos asegurarles que el Distrito Escolar de Sunnyvale sigue siendo un lugar seguro y acogedor para todos los estudiantes, sin importar su estatus migratorio.

Nuestro distrito no pide, guarda, ni comparte información sobre el estatus migratorio de los estudiantes o sus familias. Las escuelas seguirán siendo lugares seguros donde cada niño tiene el derecho de aprender y crecer sin miedo.

Nuestras prácticas están basadas en nuestros valores y en leyes que existen desde hace tiempo:

• La ley federal dice que todos los niños en los Estados Unidos, sin importar su estatus migratorio o ciudadanía, tienen el derecho a una educación pública gratuita y apropiada.
• La ley de California dice que todos los estudiantes tienen derecho a asistir a la escuela pública sin discriminación, acoso, violencia, intimidación o bullying.
