NOTICE OF ELECTION
March 5, 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to the qualified electors of the Sunnyvale School District, County of Santa Clara, California, that in accordance with the provisions of the California Government Code and California Elections Code, a Special Election for purposes of a Bond Measure to be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at which the following measure shall be submitted to and voted on by the qualified electors within the Sunnyvale School District.
MEASURE
To continue critical renovation and modernization of local elementary and middle schools, upgrade school safety/security, improve access to technology, and ensure accessibility for students with disabilities, shall Sunnyvale School District’s measure be adopted authorizing $214 million in bonds at legal interest rates, raising an average of $13.2 million annually for approximately 34 years, at a projected rate of $15 per $100,000 assessed value, with oversight, accountability, all funds benefitting schools, and no funds for administrator salaries?

NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that arguments for or against said measure may be submitted to the County of Santa Clara Registrar of Voters' Office, 1555 Berger Dr., Building 2, San Jose, California, 95112, not later than 5:00 p.m. on December 12, 2023. The governing board or any member or members of the board, any individual voter who is eligible to vote on the measure, or a bona fide association of citizens, or a combination of such voters and associations may file a
written argument for or against the Measure. No argument shall exceed 300 words in length. No more than five signatures shall appear with any argument submitted. Printed arguments submitted shall be titled either "Argument in Favor of Measure" or "Argument Against Measure." Words used in the title shall not be counted when determining the length of any argument.
The Registrar of Voters shall make the arguments available for public examination during business hours for a period of 10-calendar days ending December 22, 2023, immediately following the filing deadline for submission of arguments.
The Registrar of Voters will select an argument in favor and an argument against the measure to be printed and distributed in the County Voter Information Guides.
The Registrar of Voters will send a copy of the selected argument in favor of the measure to the authors of the argument against, and a copy of the selected argument against to the authors of the argument in favor. The authors may prepare and submit a rebuttal argument not exceeding 250 words in length. Each rebuttal argument shall immediately follow the direct argument that it seeks to rebut and shall be titled "Rebuttal to Argument in Favor of Measure," or "Rebuttal to Argument Against Measure." Words used in the title shall not be counted when determining the length of any rebuttal argument. The rebuttal arguments must be filed with the County of Santa Clara Registrar of Voters' Office no later than 5:00 p.m. on December 19, 2023.
The Registrar of Voters shall make the rebuttal arguments available for public examination during business hours for a period of 10-calendar days ending December 29, 2023, immediately following the filing deadline for submission of rebuttal arguments.
All arguments and rebuttals filed pursuant to this notice shall be accompanied by the following form statement to be signed by each author:
The undersigned author(s) of the ARGUMENT/REBUTTAL TO ARGUMENT IN FAVOR OF/AGAINST Ballot Measure at the Special Election in the Sunnyvale School District, County of Santa Clara, to be held March 5, 2024, hereby state that such argument is true and correct to the best of his/her/their knowledge and belief.
NOTICE IS GIVEN that all active registered voters will automatically be mailed a Vote-by-Mail ballot package beginning on February 5, 2024, the Vote Centers for said election will be open starting on February 24, 2024, through March 5, 2024, for varying hours of operations. Please see our List of Vote Centers hours of operation posted on our website at https://vote.santaclaracounty.gov/home. The Vote Centers will be open on Election Day, March 5, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. All ballots cast in said election will be counted centrally at the County of Santa Clara Registrar of Voters’ Office, 1555 Berger Drive, Building #2, San Jose, California.
NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that, pursuant to Elections Code section 15101(b), Vote by Mail ballots will be opened and processed for counting beginning February 5, 2024, at the County of Santa
