Cherry Chase School Tours 2018-2019
We invite prospective families to join us for one of our school tours. School tours are designed as informational sessions for families who are not yet enrolled in Cherry Chase. After a brief introduction to our school, participants will receive a tour of the campus, including the cafeteria, library, and playgrounds. We will also visit at least two classrooms for a brief classroom observation. Each tour is tailored to the registrants; therefore, the classroom grade levels will be determined based on the registrants for that day. In order to accommodate as many families as possible, we have space for 1 adult per family.
All tours will begin at 8:30 AM and typically last one hour.

Below, we have provided answers to some of our most Frequently Asked Questions. To register for a school tour or for questions about registration, you can contact Jen Maylard at email@example.com.
How many students attend Cherry Chase?
During the 2018-2019 school year, our registration is approximately 840 students. We have 34 total classes, with 24 students each in grade K-2 and 32 students each in grades 4-5, as well as one Special Day Class.
Does Cherry Chase offer Transitional Kindergarten (TK)?
Cherry Chase does not have TK classes on site. Students eligible for TK may register to attend at one of the Sunnyvale School District sites offering those classes. Cherry Chase students typically attend TK at Vargas or Ellis Elementary School.
What can I expect for my child entering Kindergarten?
Kindergarten is the first grade level offered at Cherry Chase. In 2018-2019 there are five kindergarten classes and one kindergarten/1st grade combination class. Registration for the 2019-20120 school year began in February 2019. Registered kindergarten families were invited to attend our Kindergarten Roundup on May 2, 2019, where our kindergarten teachers met most of their incoming students and screened them for current learning levels.
For the first six weeks of school, Kindergarten students attend for half-day sessions (released at 11:35). This allows students to become familiar with the routines of school and provides a time in the afternoon for teachers to complete their initial assessments, which will allow them to tailor their instruction to meet their students' needs. Full day kindergarten starts at the beginning of October.
What do students learn at Cherry Chase?
Cherry Chase uses the California Common Core Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) to guide instruction.
