School Site Council
The School Site Council (SSC) develops the school's Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). The SSC must approve the plan, recommend it to the local governing board for approval, monitor its implementation, and evaluate the effectiveness of the planned activities at least annually.
At Bishop, the SSC is composed of the principal, teachers and parents who work together to develop, review and evaluate school improvement programs and school budgets. The members of the site council are elected by their peers, parents elect parents and teachers elect teachers, for a two year term. Meetings are held throughout the school year and are open to the public. Specific dates can be found on our website calendar.

English Learner Advisory Committee
Schools with more than 21 English learners are required to form an English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). The ELAC is responsible for advising the principal and staff on programs and services for English learners and the School Site Council on the development of the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). The ELAC assists the school in the development of the school's needs assessment, the school's annual language census, and ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.
At Bishop, our SSC has absorbed the responsibilites of our ELAC. Please join us during our SSC meetings which include opportunities to provide input into school programs, parent education, and student presentations.
