Our efforts have been recognized -- CMS was awarded the Hoffmann Award from Santa Clara County in 2014, and most recently, the California Gold Ribbon Award (previously known as Distinguished School) in May of 2015!

Students at Columbia Middle School were delighted Oct. 16, 2018, when San Jose Sharks player Evander Kane and SJ Sharkie helped them try on their brand new glasses.
Students learned about jobs in STEM and the local history of the company
Whether they are operating their own soap business at Sunnyvale Middle School, maintaining the garden at Columbia Middle, or making their infamous K9 Crunchies dog biscuits at the Fremont Union High School District Office, Sunnyvale students with disabilities are building the vocational and social skills they need to be successful when they enter the workforce.

The ongoing series of free after school STEM workshops have covered engineering, circuit design, wearable technology, electrical systems, and animation.
On October 14, 2016, students at Columbia Middle School experienced the unique opportunity to learn about 3D printing, laser cutting projects and more thanks to a visit from the Mobile Maker Lab from Santa Clara University.
To help increase young women’s interest in STEM subjects, the Sunnyvale Public Library decided to bring its Make-HER hands-on STEM learning program for women and girls to Columbia Middle School this fall for a special 5-week after school program.
