Mr. Pearson

My name is Mr. Pearson,

I am in my 21st year at Cherry Chase and my sixteenth-year teaching fifth grade. Prior to teaching, I worked as an engineer for various high-tech companies. I grew up in Sunnyvale and my wife and I still reside here. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, hanging out with friends, going to movies, working out, playing, and watching sports, and spending time at Starbucks.

Below is my brief biography:

Teaching

  • Cherry Chase: Fifth Grade (2007–09, 2011–16, 2018-20, 2021-Current)
  • Sunnyvale School District: 4/5 Independent Study Teacher 2020-2021
  • Cherry Chase: 4/5 combination class (2016–18)
  • Cherry Chase: Third Grade (2004–07, 2009–11)
  • Pacific Coast Kids: Science Camp (Summer Camp, 2010-2016)
  • Sunnyvale School District: Eighth Grade Math (Summer School - 2009)
  • Sunnyvale School District: 2/3 combination class (Summer School - 2008)

Technical Industry

  • Parkin Security: Background Investigator (Personal and Professional - 2003)
  • Pro-Motion: Engineering (Marketing, Quality, and Product Engineering - 2002-2003)
  • eGain Communications: Information Technology (Desktop Support, Email and Print Servers, and Educational Training - 2000)
  • Nortel Networks: Engineering (Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Base - 1983-2001)

After 20 years working in industry, mostly as an engineer, I wanted to make a difference in my community, so I decided to join the Teacher Education program at University of Phoenix. My second student teaching assignment was at Cherry Chase.

I believe in continued education and have earned an advanced degree in Computer Science and a master’s in education (Curriculum Development/Instruction). I continue to take courses to increase knowledge and understanding in both engineering and education.
