My name is Corey Ruan and this is my fourth year teaching at Cumberland. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a teacher. I love what I do and am excited to come into work each day! Walking into my classroom in the morning feels like a fresh start, a new opportunity for growth and learning. Working with children everyday is the most rewarding job on the planet and I am grateful to get the chance to be on this journey with your child.

I received my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Master's in Education from UC Davis School of Education and am passionate about their core values - collaboration (with colleagues, parents, students), advocacy for educational equity, inquiry and research-based practices, as well as reflection. I am lucky to have a wonderful class of 5th graders this year where I can implement these beliefs. My passions surround helping all students succeed and I feel particularly lucky to be at Cumberland, a place which embodies this idea. Working as a team, I am confident that we can support your child to grow both academically and socially. Looking forward to a wonderful year!
