"Learning and Beyond"
Cumberland Elementary School was built in 1964. One tradition that the school has proudly maintained is producing achieving students who have gone on to be successful, contributing adults.
Cumberland Elementary School Vision: Our mission as a school community is to "develop globally aware learners who are compassionate problem solvers and leaders." We do this by creating a challenging, safe, orderly, caring and supportive learning environment that values individual differences and learning styles. We do this to cultivate independent and confident thinkers who work collaboratively, and to foster a lifelong joy of learning.
The staff and parents of Cumberland work together to prepare leaders for the future. Our students are bright, inquisitive and creative, and certainly gifted in a multitude of ways. Our staff considers it a privilege to be able to affect and influence our students' lives in such a pivotal role. Parents are supportive and committed to working with the school and are generous with their time, expertise and resources. Continuous improvement is one of our school's core values, and the goal is to work with our parent community to keep us focused on excellence.School Boundary: Cumberland roughly services the area bounded by Mary Ave, Mathilda/Sunnyvale-Saratoga Ave, Remington Ave, and Washington Ave. Cumberland is a feeder school into Sunnyvale Middle School, for grades 6 to 8.
