The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001 mandates that school districts develop a Local Educational Agency Plan (LEA Plan) (as a requirement for receiving federal funding for Under No Child Left Behind (NCLB). The plan is required to summarize the actions the schools and district will take to ensure that the program requirements of NCLB are met.
It is intended to be a plan that may be updated annually to reflect the District's plans for utilizing categorical funding to help all students meet grade level standards. A revision of our LEA plan within 90 days is required as a result of the district qualifying for Program Improvement status.
Administrators, teachers and parents have participated in the development of the LEA plan that addresses the following State Board of Education performance goals adopted in May 2002:Performance Goal 1 : All students will reach high standards, at a minimum, attaining proficiency or better in reading and mathematics by 2013-2014.
Performance Goal 2 : All limited-English-proficient students will become proficient in English and reach high academic standards, at a minimum, attaining proficiency or better in reading/language arts and mathematics.
Performance Goal 3 : All students will be taught by highly qualified teachers.
Performance Goal 4 : All students will be educated in learning environments that are safe, drug free, and conducive to learning.
