• Inviting Authors into our Schools

    The Library Team is focused on creating opportunities for our students to meet the authors of the books students love. Author visits can enhance positive literacy engagement for students. Once again, each school in the district will host an author during the week of October 2-6. 

    2023 Authors

    This year's authors include:

    • Jerry Craft, author of New Kid, John Newbery Medal for the most outstanding contribution to children's literature (2020); the Kirkus Prize for Young Readers' Literature (2019), and the Coretta Scott King Author Award for the most outstanding work by an African American writer (2020).
    • Yuyi Morales, author of the New York Times bestseller DreamersNino Wrestles the World, and six-time winner of the Pura Belpre Medal for an outstanding work of literature for children that best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience.
    • Joanna Ho, has received the Asian/Pacific American Award for Children's Literature Honor, a Golden Kite Award, an Ezra Jack Keats Honor, and a Golden Poppy Award.

     

    Virtual Author Visits

    Our K-5 Library Resource Specialists are also leading a new program at the school sites in conjunction with virtual author service, BookBreak.
