    NEW Certificated Substitute Compensation Rates (effective December 1st, 2021)

    Daily Rates

    • $250.00 for a full day (more than four hours)
    • $125.00 for a half day (four hours or less)
    • $300.00 per day for our Retirees

    Long-term Rates

    • $290.00 per day for substitutes who work for 16 consecutive days or longer in the same position.
    • $429.39 per day for long-term substitutes who are fully credentialed and work for 30 days in the same position.

    Retention Stipend 

    • A substitute who works 40 jobs during the year will qualify for a $500.00 stipend to be paid at the end of the 2023-2024 school year. 
    • Retirees who work 20 jobs during the year will qualify for the $500.00 stipend.

    Certificated Substitute Requirements: 

    In order to be a certificated substitute in SSD, you must. 

    • Possess a Bachelor's degree
    • Pass Basic Skills Requirement (through CBEST, degree, or coursework)
    • Hold a 30-day emergency permit/credential or be fully credentialed 
    • Apply with a letter of introduction and letter of recommendation
